MILLENNIUM EYE PERMISSIONS

I. Pertinent info about the Eye aka How it will affect YOU:

Pegasus is in possession of a powerful ancient Egyptian artifact known as the Millennium Eye, or "Sennen Eye". It is capable of Dark Magic, granting the wielder the ability to see into the mind, as well as take possession of the soul and trap it in whatever means the wielder wishes—in Pegasus' case within a "Soul Prison" trap card, given card games are his trademark. However, it can also induce Supernatural Punishments, such as Penalty Games.

>In regards to Soul-taking: Once a person's soul is taken from their body it is like an empty shell but still capable of movement and mechanical actions, such as breathing and sleeping. If ordered to do something via Pegasus' wishes, the soulless body will comply as his "puppet".

>In regards to Mind-reading: Surface thoughts are shown to be most readily available to him, but he can assess some details, names, and even history if he delves deep enough. There's also the possibility of telepathy and receiving telepathic thoughts.

This is a doozy because I understand there are certain secrets and motivations certain characters do not want to be revealed. Chances are though that he'll mainly glance through minds for pertinent information. Unless you interest him enough or seem to be deceiving him, he won't rely on this tactic.

>In regards to influencing others: The Eye has shown to be used for a number of purposes, including planting ideas into a person's mind (subliminal messages); taking control of their body (this has only been shown via the manga, where Pegasus inflicts a penalty game on Bandit Keith for cheating/trying to assault him, where he forces Bandit Keith to shoot himself in the head).

>Inducing Supernatural Punishment: The Eye is a Dark Force, cursed with the dark magics of ancient Egypt to bring misfortune and make the wielder hunger for dark powers. Unfortunately, this means that Supernaturnal Punishments are to be expected. The nature of these punishments are largely up to the wielder, but they often involve gruesome things, or a trip to a place of eternal suffering known as the "Shadow Realm" or the "Dark Realm of Death". However, this is usually only used on those who are the loser of a Shadow Game.

Pegasus will only use this in an extreme situation, or if he is threatened and/or made extremely angry. Overuse of this can weaken him, however, especially from inducing Dark Games, as it requires a very strong darkness in the soul and high spiritual energy. Over time this can wear down the individual the longer they use it.

II. Obvious Questions?

1. Can his mind-reading be resisted? Yes and no. In Yugioh!verse there aren't many who can fortify defenses against it unless they possess a powerful enough Millennium Item themselves. But it would appear the Eye can be thwarted by having two souls share the same body (in the case of Yugi) and them constantly shifting back and forth. (Of course, if you wish to opt out just say so! I'll make him find a reason not to mind-read your character.)

A. But, to be fair, in terms of Psychics…If they have a strong enough block? Certainly, Pegasus wouldn't be able to read much more than surface thoughts, if at all. (I'll try to keep this fairly realistic too, and tell me if something isn't okay! Obviously I doubt he'd be able to read the minds of gods or ultra-extremely-powerful characters.)

B. If they're well-trained in mind-reading defenses? Yes, I'll definitely work with you on that.

2. I really don't want him to be able to mind-read my character: Well, we can work something out.~ I'm friendly! And you can tell me no ;3

Character Name: Conan Edogawa
Series: Detective Conan
History: Actually, Conan is really a missing high school detective by the name Shinichi Kudou, but since that is a very tightly guarded secret I'd really rather that not get out in case someone gets the idea that he has the secret to longer life inside him.

Thoughts: Most of what would be on the surface are highly intelligent observations and very sarcastic/rude comments

Stipulations/Details: I'd rather Conan's true identity sty a secret since it could cause all sorts of problems for him.

Would you be interested in having your soul stolen at any point in time? It depends on the plot but I won't automatically say no.

Character Name: Annie Westwind
Series: Original Character
History: Battle and death are a big part of Annie's life, he can probably catch a few glimmers of that.

Thoughts: Annie is resistant to having her mind read, though not 100% immune. Pegasus would get more of her tentacles than he would of her, which is a lot of chaos and horror. She does communicate with them telepathically, so he might be able to get some of her conversations to them? But I don't know how much that would interest him.

Stipulations/Details: I'm pretty flexible, though contacting me might be nice before going ahead with anything.

Would you be interested in having your soul stolen at any point in time? Her soul is already bonded to something else, it would be a very big mess if he messed with it. So, no.

Anything else? Questions I didn't address or anything else that you feel I should know?

Character Name: Zelos Wilder
Series: Tales of Symphonia
History: THIS WOULD BE A LONG STORY. Zelos is the 'Chosen One' in his world, which is sort of like a Jesus type role in the big story of things. He's second in power to the king, rich, and has basically grown up with this huge expectation of keeping the world safe and perfect. If things go wrong, people generally expect the Chosen to be able to help things.

There's also of course the huge family drama that is his parents being an arranged marriage. His father was the last Chosen, and committed suicide while Zelos was still young. It was then found out that he had had a second child with a mistress-- Zelos' current half-sister Seles. And said half-sister's mother tries to have Zelos killed one snowy day but it misses and hits Zelos' mother instead. Seles' mother is then executed and Seles is forced to live in an abbey the rest of her life, quietly considered a danger to the Chosen.

SO SINCE HE HATES being the Chosen, he was trying to find a way to pass it on to Seles, who he thought wanted to be and would make a better one than him. Cruxis (the evil guys in the game, or basically the angels and the ones setting up this religion) approached him to be their spy, he became an angel himself with his cruxis crystal, and there was this whole long journey where he was on 3 sides at once and doing dramatic backstabbing scenes before he decided he wanted to be a good guy after all.

I know it's tl;dr but just ping me on plurk if you ever have questions!

Thoughts: Everything I write in my tags that doesn't have a note that Pegasus probably wouldn't access it are fair game! I usually try to play out all the thoughts he has since Zelos is a deeper character and rarely presents himself as he really thinks.

Stipulations/Details: As long as it's not anything out of the blue or too fast, it should be fine. I'll communicate you on a case by case basis with this honestly!

Would you be interested in having your soul stolen at any point in time? NOT ATM...? His cruxis crystal (the thing on his chest) is already complicatedly connected with his soul.

Anything else? Not that I can think of!

Character Name: Professor Hershel Layton
Series: Professor Layton
History: Hershel was born and raised in a little town called Stansbury, the town of bad haircuts, and lived there with his parents and his friends peacefully, being dragged from cave to cave on archaeological expeditions with his best friend, Randall Ascot. After one such expedition went wrong and resulted in Randall's death, Hershel left Stansbury for London, where he eventually began studying archaeology as Andrew Schrader's apprentice. It was in his studies that he met Claire Folly, and in his adulthood, entered a relationship with her.

At 27, Hershel officially became a professor at Gressenheller, a prestigious university. On the very same day, Claire was involved in a sizable explosion, and she was killed. Hershel spent his time tirelessly researching the suspicious circumstance surrounding her death, and as he grew near to discovering the political powers smothering news coverage of the incident, he was violently assaulted. This left him comatose for a month, and when he was healthy enough to return home, he found his flat ransacked and his notes stolen.

After this, he remained quiet and largely kept himself occupied with his classes, until receiving a letter from an old classmate, asking him for assistance with some strange problem. Since then, he has helped many people with various bizarre cases with Luke and Flora; respectively, his apprentice and adopted ward.

Thoughts: Since he doesn't really have a way to combat mind-reading, anything he's thinking is pretty much fine! Aside from what I've written out, he'll probably be privy to Hershel's deductions regarding the city, their situation and people he considers notable, so feel free to have him pick up on that. The Professor makes many deductions quietly, tucks them away and connects things until he has a complete understanding of the situation. So they can have involuntary pow-wows, basically.

Later, this might cloud as he starts picking up on the area's local cultists and researches on them and their beliefs. It's likely that his thoughts will grow increasingly disturbed and paranoid as he delves deeper, and will be noticeably more erratic then he presents himself.

Also puzzles.

Stipulations/Details: Pretty much anything is fine!

Would you be interested in having your soul stolen at any point in time? It might be cool somewhere down the line! I'd be willing to plot it out if it was relevant.

Anything else? I'll let you know if anything comes to mind but for now I think everything's here!

Character Name: Steve Rogers, Captain America
Series: MCU
History: I'm willing to let Pegasus see ALL the things. Steve has no way to protect himself from mind-reading abilities.

Thoughts: Steve's mind is pretty layered I want to say. He wouldn't always be thinking about the past as far as WW2 goes so that should take some deep level reading. He will be aware Steve is on alert pretty much all the time. He also looks at things from an aesthetic perspective even if he doesn't mean to as he is an artist.

Stipulations/Details: I'm really okay with anything so long as it is for plot stuff. Steve really doesn't bother to hide his identity anyways so it's not too big of a deal.

Examples: "Pegasus is allowed to view any of the events above, but only if he never gets to see my character's true identity" for superheroes, or, "I really don't want him to see the moment this happened ____", or, "Pegasus should not see any of my character's interactions with this character", or, "Pegasus is allowed to see this amount of history with my character, except for this scene".

Would you be interested in having your soul stolen at any point in time?Update/note: Not something I'll be doing at this time unless you want plots/shenanigans...Let me know.
Yes. For plotty stuff.
Anything else? Questions I didn't address or anything else that you feel I should know?
Nope. It's fine.

Character Name: Marion Scotts
Series: OC
History: Marion is a Texan. Her father died from cancer so she ended up dropping out of college. At some point around ten or eleven months ago (at this point in EV) Marion survived an attack by a serial killer who just happened to be a werewolf. Now she happens to be one and is dealing with that on top of being held by COMPASS.

Thoughts: Marion is very friendly. Like a puppy. She acts happy but is prone to fits of depression.

He should also pick up if he looks a little deeper that she has PTSD. She also has a second personality. The Wolf, essentially. This is why going really deep into her mind is more difficult as the Wolf also acts as a sort of mental block for things she isn't comfortable with.

Stipulations/Details: He can know that Marion survived the attack BUT not about her hospital stay or when she went off the deep end and lived in the woods for four months. She'd rather NOT go into that.

If Pegasus ever needs to protect himself from her? Sure. Otherwise, lets plot first.

Anything else? Questions I didn't address or anything else that you feel I should know?

Character Name: Hajime Saitou
Series: Hakuouki
History: something something REAL LIFE JAPANESE HISTORY WITH VAMPIRES okay but TO BE MORE SERIOUS.

Saitou's from a minor samurai family, pretty low in the grand scheme of things. He's spent his whole life trying to live up to all the proper samurai ideals, but there's one glaring exception: he's left-handed! The standard practice in kenjutsu was to tell lefties to suck it up and learn to fight like they're right-handed anyway, but Saitou always refused to compromise in this, so he spent a lot of time getting insulted, looked down on, kicked out of dojos, told that he had no talent, etc. This despite being basically undefeated.

When he was eighteen, he dropped by a little dojo called Shieikan to challenge the students there - this was Kondou's dojo. At the time, Kondou and Hijikata had stepped out, so Saitou fought Souji Okita, who was also a genius who was pretty much undefeated among his peers. The two of them beat the crap out of each other, got so totally into it that everyone else had to drag them apart before they killed each other, and they've been BFFs ever since, and Saitou hung around Shieikan a lot because they didn't judge him for being a leftie. (Kondou was just kind of cluelessly cute and OH YOU'RE STRONG :D, and Hijikata flat out told Saitou that everyone else was just asspained at losing, because Saitou had nothing to be ashamed of. This has stuck with him very hard; his insane CATCH A GRENADE FOR YOU loyalty to Hijikata started there.)

At some point here a hatamoto's son challenged him to a duel with live steel; Saitou killed him, and got his ass exiled from Edo. The Shieikan crew packed up and left for Kyoto sometime after that, though, to go form the Shinsengumi, so as soon as he caught wind of it he followed them there to be with his bros, and he's been with them ever since. Hakuouki follows most of the historical Shinsengumi stuff fairly closely, with the added vampire weirdness of them being involved in experiments to give people awesome powers that instead keep making people go crazy and bloodthirsty, so Saitou was around for/involved in the big highlights like assassinating Serizawa, the Ikedaya affair, Hamaguri Gate, etc. He came to Zelien straight from the battle of Toba-Fushimi, where he drank the kool-aid and became a crazy vampire-thing himself to fight one Chikage Kazama, because fighting an oni as a human is a surefire way to get your ass kicked (and oh, did he get his ass kicked - this still grates on him, a lot, as it was a really bloody, humilating curb-stomping).

I CAN OFFER UP MORE DETAILS ON ANY OF THIS UPON REQUEST, but I'm trying not to write a whole history section in your permissions post sob I'm sorry

Thoughts: duty honor loyalty shinsengumi being a samurai hijikata-saaaaaaaan -

A lot of what's on the surface is pretty easy to predict from talking to Saitou; he's deathly serious about his duty to the Shinsengumi, about proper samurai behavior (...from the right POV, I'll come back to this), and his loyalty to the Shinsengumi is also hyper-focused on Hijikata. He is willing to do unpleasant things for the sake of the Shinsengumi and for Hijikata; he's done spy work and been involved in some of their shadier affairs, and was quite willing to take the fall if it kept the group's - and especially Hijikata's - reputation clean (i.e. he spies on Itou and pretends to be his supporter, brings back the information they use to assassinate him, and then when the low level Shinsengumi members who don't know what happened treat him like he's just going back and forth to whichever side he thinks is winning, he basically says he doesn't care because if he explained himself, Hijikata would look bad for ordering him to do that and that's unacceptable to him). Chizuru has a line in canon at one point about how she's pretty sure he'd jump into a bonfire if Hijikata ordered him to do it. This is...pretty spot on, tbh.

A little deeper down: he's not good at thinking of himself beyond his duty! His whole character arc in canon, which he's not too far into in game here, is about considering himself as a person and his own needs and that he has value as a person beyond his ability to fight for his masters. He's also got some very deep-set fears about the changes Japan is going through and what modernization is going to mean; he's basically put his entire life into the sword and Toba-Fushimi made it look very much like the sword is about to become meaningless. He also put his entire life into training and still got utterly owned by Kazama, so he's pretty deeply ashamed of that and has been questioning his life, his universe and everything since that loss.

Stipulations/Details: I don't have any particular restrictions, although if the whole rasetsu/vampire thing actually came up more actively than Pegasus finding out and going HM to himself, it could also impact Saitou's cast, of course, so that's something I would want to discuss - but that isn't necessarily off-limits, just would need some checking around first!

Would you be interested in having your soul stolen at any point in time? Something I don't mind if there's good plot reason for it!

Anything else? Nothing else comes to mind, but as said somewhere up there - I'm happy to expand on anything I CAN TALK ABOUT HAKUOUKI TILL THE COWS COME HOME. o/
sponsorigami: icon of Ivan laying on the floor (漫画 Just leave me here to die)

[personal profile] sponsorigami 2013-10-10 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Character Name: Ivan Karelin
Series: Tiger & Bunny
History: I'm working on writing up a more detailed summary of Ivan's canon history, but here is a wiki link for Ivan. For EV, I do have an ALPHA summary written up both OOCly and ICly. The BETA OOC summary is still a WIP, but here it is.

Thoughts: Ivan has a strong sense of duty and being a hero that is brought about by a lot of death and regret. Death is something Ivan has become very familiar with. However, the details why should be left vague. Also, Ivan seems to have a different/stronger sense of touch and a lot more feedback/information than a normal person.

Stipulations/Details: For EV things, Pegasus can get the sense that some really bad things have happened but not the details. Use the IC ALPHA summary as a guide. I'd rather not have canon things found out just to make it easier.

Would you be interested in having your soul stolen at any point in time? Maybe? But I am leaning more towards no.

Anything else? If I'm being too vague or confusing on this, hit me up, and I'll try to explain better. (Trying to get through a lot of tough tags atm)
